These handmade ancient roman glass and .925 sterling silver drop earrings are made using genuine ancient Roman glass fragments from between the 1st and 6th centuries A.D. The ancient Roman glass features a blue "patina" that is the result of layers of earth covering the glass during the years it was buried in the ground. The glass is mostly blue but reflects a brighter metallic blue and green in the light. These dangle earrings feature an oval piece of ancient Roman glass with a sterling silver circle dangling around the oval.

These earrings measure approximately 1.63" long (including the ear wire) by approximately 0.79" wide. Please note that the dime is not included but is shown to help you gauge the size of the earrings. These earrings use a classic hook style ear wire that slips easily into the ear. The back of the earring is stamped with "925" so you can rest assured you are getting genuine .925 sterling silver jewelry.

These earrings would make a great gift for any history student or anyone interested in ancient societies, antiquities, or travel. These earrings are brand new and come with our original store tags and gift box, as well as an information card which states the following:

Genuine Ancient Roman Glass Jewelry

This jewelry contains glass fragments that originate from parts of ancient blown glass vessels of the Roman Byzantine empire between the 1st and 6th centuries A.D. Layers of earth covered the glass over hundreds of years to give the unique "patina" now covering the glass. It is recommended that the Roman glass not be placed under water as this can cause the patina to wear off and turn the glass black.
