This genuine ancient Roman coin and .925 sterling silver handmade pendant features Diocletian, who was the emperor of the ancient Roman Empire from 284-305 A.D. Diocletian was best known for stabilizing the Roman empire at the end of the third century with the creation of the system of “tetrarchy.” This system consisted of four major leaders to help stabilize the Roman empire. The Western and Eastern halves of the empire each had their own senior emperor and junior emperor. The front of the pendant shows the front of the coin with the traditional profile of Diocletian, while the reverse side shows a very faded figure on the back of the coin. The pendant features a unique design with sterling silver bars above and below the coin.

This pendant measures approximately 2.43” long (including the bail) by approximately 0.95” wide. Please note that the dime is not included but is shown to help you gauge the size of the pendant. The pendant uses a large bail (loop for chain) which allows the pendant to fit easily on to most styles of chains or cords (not included) or to work as focal bead for your own unique beaded design. The back of the pendant is stamped with “925” so you can rest assured that the pendant is set in genuine .925 sterling silver jewelry.

Diocletian

Gaius Aurelius Valerius Diocletianus

(284-305 A.D.) Diocletian brought an end to the period popularly known to historians as the “Crisis of the Third Century.” He Established an autocratic government and was responsible for laying the groundwork for the second phase of the Roman Empire.
